New Zealand's country side

Ted and I decided to go on a holiday out of the hustle and bustle of Auckland city. We started our journey at 8.30am and headed to McD's first for our favorite Bacon and Egg McMuffin Combo wit a nice hot chocolate. Then we drove down south to our first stop, Matamata in Hamilton to see the LOTR movie set. WEEE~ We've always wanted to see the site since it has been such a big part of NZ. I've never driven out of Auckland so we were kinda scared. We've seen too much horror movies such as Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw (real scary) bla bla.....hahaha
But not to worry I've got the maps.........we had to ask the lady at the first petrol station and that was it! We found the place quite easily. It took us 2 and a half hours to get there. Hai! Butt ache! We checked ourselves onto the tour and off we went visiting at 12.15pm. HOBBITON HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!

Some of the hobbit holes has been taken down and it didnt look how it did in the movie. That's because the movie company had to destroy what they put up so this is what's left of it

We left Matamata at around 3 for Taupo. It's another 3 hours North and once again I've to rely on the map.

At least the long drive wasnt that bad. This is what we see on NZ highways.
In Malaysia all we see are trees burnt or being burnt coz it's too hot hehe

We checked into the motel we booked a day before at about 5. The motel was so cosy and affordable. They even gave us a 1 bedroom suite facing the lake. Lake Taupo is the most famous lake in NZ. It's huge and it has waves. If u didnt know u would think u're staying by the beach. It was formed by a volcanic eruption centuries ago and now the volcano is still under the lake. YIKS! haha


Look at that lake! We'll be paying for a 5 star suite if we were in Malaysia to get that view.

We took our showers right after that and went out for dinner. Not that we know of where to go and what to eat. We just drove around looking and hogging the road....naah! Not much traffic in a town with 16 thousand ppl especially at nite. Everything closes at 5 or 6. DUMB!





We found this little Italian shop tucked in a corner called Papa's pizza parlor or something like tat. The food was yummy!



After dinner we went walking around town.
Look at the background, those were the only shops open at this time


So we sat down at some restaurant and bar for COFFEE! hehe weird!

We went back to the motel after that. It was really cold by 11 and we've got a long schedule for tomorrow too. So off to bed early.

Kiwi Saturday Nite

Huimin, Ted and I had a typical Kiwi Saturday nite. We had dinner at the famous Malaysian restaurant. I cant believe Ted miss home food already. He's been here for just more than a week hehe Ted was kinda shocked by the price we've to pay NZ$14 for Kangkong Belacan and $16 for Beef Rendang haha but he said the food was really good and it tasted like home. So I guess it was worth it anyway.

 We chose a table outside on a wet and windy autumn nite to have dinner This is also to have a more Malaysian feel to the food

Since we had dinner early would u thin we would head home? Naah! Went to a bar in Auckland city for a few drinks. The bar had almost 100 different types of drinks excluding the beers. Hmmmm.....and they were much cheaper than Malaysia. I just found out that Malaysian customs charge 500% on their liquors. How unfair! It's all because we're a Muslim country! NO FAIR!

Huimin's eyes got a little fuzzy after looking through the menu (The one on the table behind the drinks. It was 6 pages long)



We didnt drink much hahaha *hick*
 We had beers first (boring) so went onto a couple of cocktails, shoots........*burp*

I've never done so much cooking

It has been a crazy week. Ted and I cooked almost every meal at home. It was fun and the food turned out much better than we expected. Some were nicer than others of course. Ted made breakfast most of the time and for lunch we would just make something simple. Dinner would be the whole fancy "tai chow" (big cooking), grill, bake, stir-fry bla bla bla........

Ted would get up at 7 in the morning just to make breakfast. Hmmm....I wonder how long he would last doing that.......hehehe.....

Touring around

Today was crazy! Both of us went everywhere. I brought him sight seeing and into souvenir shops hehe I felt like a tourist myself. We went to Kelly Tarton's underwater world......hahaha...........kinda exciting too. Went onto a ride to look at penguins and also walked into an aquarium to look at sharks and stingrays. They looked rather yummy too. Shark for shark fin soup and stingrays for Ikan Pari masak asam....hahaha........I miss Malaysian food already.

After the aquarium fun. We went to one of Auckland's most famous beach and hang out area. Mission Bay! The view was fantastic...but u actually get those kinda views all over. Nothing but green and pollution free.

Ted arrived

Ted's plane landed at 10.30 but then he only came out at almost 12.30 because he lost his luggage. Poor thing! After such a long flight wat can be worst? I sometimes wonder what kinda people they have working in KLIA. He told me that the lady was such a dumb ass. Ted had to transit in Singapore so obviously he would want his luggage sent to Auckland. He told the lady of course and it's stated in the ticket too. Why would anyone wanna pick their luggage in Singapore and then check it in again. Wont u think a lady working at a check in would know that? After all that, the lady still checks it into Singapore and not onto the flight to Auckland. How stupid can she be? Why wont KLIA get some girl that would understand SOME simple English! Ted and Gene even repeated to the dumb ass in Malay. GOODNESS!
Ted was lucky he was staying with me. He wore my home tshirt to sleep. Poor guy! He only got his bag back today. Arggh! He called home and complained to his mum and Gary haha.........even Gene was surprised by the stupid service. DAMN! Wat's with a nice new airport and dumb people working there? It's so embarrassing!

I survived!

hahaha I survived the weekend. I managed manage the weekend and my boss was rather pleased with my performance. It wasn't really that hard. I learn everything on Saturday and by Sunday I could do it on my own. Hmmm......ok the theory part was all very manageable but now I worry about my staff. I wonder if they're happy with me being their manager. I gotta talk to everyone of them once day and see if they're satisfied and not satisfied about management. Oh well! I just hope things wont get too complicated. Rachel is gonna send me to a manager's course one day and I would be a certified manager haha.....I did that for my coffee course too. I guess I'm working my way up to my dream secretary and my own office now....hahaha

Wat am I ought to do?

I went back to my work place to see my boss (Rachel) today since she really wants me to work for her again. She even kept my position for me till I got back after my long holiday. Isnt she sweet or wat? She's the best boss I ever gotten. I was happy to work with her once more since I liked where I work and the company there. In addition to all that, Rachel promised me a pay rise to $11.50 an hour if I came back to work with her.....hmmm......how was I gonna say no when I left hehe
I walked towards the cafe jolly as ever whistling while I swung my hands left and right as if there's not a single worry in my mind. Saw Rachel and she gave me a big hug and sat me down at the nearest table. She said that there's has be a few changes since I left. Some ppl came and went and bla bla.....and SUDDENLY! She asked me if I was interested in being the manager on the weekends. I was startled! I didnt know what to say and all those weird horrible thoughts came into my mind. Manage ppl? Manage the cafe? All through the weekends? Close up! Lock up! Cash out at the end! WOW! It sounds a lot! I've never managed before I've only been managed all my life.....OH NO!

I told Rachel how I felt about it and she said she was confident that I could handle it. That's the main reason she didnt wanna hire a new manager when Patrick(Patty, my favorite manager) left.....hmmmm.......and she said manager's pay goes even higher than a barista.....hmmm....how am I to say no once again. I told her I'll give it a try but what if I didnt like it. She said that isnt a problem by then she might just hire someone if I really didnt like it.

Oh well! That was all she said and I'll be managing this weekend. AWW~ I've never been so nervous in my life....ermmm....not that I remember anyway. Wish me luck! *GULP*

A whole new 4 months

Eww! I'm back in Auckland. Man! This place really sucks!
There absolutely nothing to do. After 3 whole months back home with night shopping, late night supper and bla bla bla....and now suddenly! DEAD COUNTRY! I'm living in the city for crying out loud so just imagine those lil tiny suburbs with a tiny town wit a few shops far away from the nearest town centre. GOD! I wonder what they do. Milk cows and shear sheep the whole morning and afternoon? Ok I know I sound pissed! hehe

It's the first day of uni for me again today. A brand new semester.....arggh! But hey I missed a week of it already. School started on the 28th of Feb. Do u think I would come back all the way just for tat? Naah! Extended my stay back home till the 4th of March. Of course it was worth it. A few hours away from Sleepy Hollow would be a fantasy. Lectures today were boring! Got all the assignments today too. How much worst can it get? hai!

Ok not everything's that bad. Ted's coming over in a month and I cant stop counting the days. He'll be here for my mid semester holidays. I plan to go Taupo, skiing in the snow further down south and ermmm.....maybe the dolphin safari....oh well! Cant wait for that and that's about all the excitement I'm gonna get this whole semester.

ARGGHHHHH!
I wonder if my parents knows how much I hate it here.
Yea they got great plans.....Parents : "Let go get a PR in NZ and send the daughter on the next flight to uni.".............Overjoyed Daughter : "Thank u very much! U just pretty send me off to dead zone! hahaha I'm having so much fun!".............

I've got the key

I've reached adulthood today! Damn! I dun like getting old coz there's even more responsibilities. By the time I finish uni I would have to work and support myself. How the hell am I gonna do that? I've always worried about this since I turn 20 coz I dun like relying on my future husband coz it makes me feel hopeless. Ok not only that. I'm madly competitive in the work force and I've got big dreams of becoming something big in the company. I want my own office, I want my own secretary, I wan my own company card that says Director or Managing Director or even Financial Manager which is really what I want. I want to make to the high 6 digit annual pay. I want to fly business class. I want my kids to have the best of the best which is more than what I ever got. At this stage, I've no idea how I'm gonna be able to do this and it kinda freaks me out as I'm getting old and nearer to graduation. I know that not all our dreams would come true but at least some of them might.

I didnt want a big party or anything today. Didnt wanna do all that. Going clubbing to celebrate my 21st, throwing a big BBQ bla bla just doesnt excite me anymore haha Ted thinks I'm spoilt haha..........so he knows what would work. He brought me shopping! WEEE~ We actually shopped like mad! Bought a lot and eat quite a lot also hehe for supper we went to Secret Recipe coz he said I must get a cake. We shared a chocolate banana cake, a huge ice cream, an ice chocolate and kid's mini burgers (makes me feel young again) haha it was great fun (ppl were looking at us la. They must think we're a new couple hehe)

He did some shopping too and he has a thing for shoes instead. He has more shoes than I actually do. Yea we counted hehe......
I chose the Guess shirt for him coz I liked the stars on the side. They're like Blink 182's stars. When I took this picture Ted said "Ouu...so cantik la!" I answered "Nice leh! I take one wor" He said "Nola....Paris Hilton! DAMNIT!" hehe dumb blonde.....hehehe.....at the beginning Ted actually suggested that I chose a handbag with Paris' face on the front. Hmmm.....they should make bags for guys with her face. They should put....ermm.....Brad Pitt or something on the girls'.....rite rite? or maybe someone other than Paris

Mum and dad gave me a present too. This present is something I couldnt see now but I will after a few years. Dad gave me a HUGE Ang Pao and chucked it into an investment plan which would give me about $50,000 with an interest of 9.5% in 9 years. Hmmm....fair enough.........but it was really hard to accept so much from him and it actually made me cry. This is the second time he did such a thing. The 1st time was on my 12 birthday which I could hardly understand y he couldnt just give me a Bardie or something hehe stupid kid! Other than that I've got a retirement fund put aside too. It grows every year and I dun have to take it out when I retire. I can take it out whenever it reaches a healthy big amount. Maybe I could wait till then to get my own office and secretary haha....

I had a wonderful birthday. The presents were great from the both of them. No matter big or small....the simplest things in life made me happy!

Love is in the air....Oh....Love is in the air....

February is definitely my favorite month of the year. Not only because of Valentine's day and mummy's birthday (hehehe tat's y I cant forget).....it's also my month. I've always found February to be a month of love and prosperity. Mostly because chinese new year falls in there additionally it's also the shortest month of the year and it's also the most special since it gets 29 days every 4 years.

Well at least this year I getta spend the whole of February in Malaysia before leaving for Auckland once more on the 4th of March. Arggh! Darn it! As everyone knows Valentine's day is mostly for business people to make money from silly couples who would spend every dime on each other while u can get that same thing a day before or after. DUH! haha I've to sadly admit that Ted and I are part this haha but of course we werent like some who would spend so much.

Once again we had to make bookings a day earlier to have dinner at Renaissance. Hmmm.......how troublesome! Ok we had dinner. The place was jammed pack and I got a rose too hehe but I think the hotel bought it the day before or something. It looked ok but u know...kinda like "kak yeh" (kept over night) The dinner wasnt cheap as u know. Maybe was because of what they served. We got desert in heart shapes. It was so cute and I didnt have the heart to eat it. hehe....Wat I like best about today was our presents to each other. It sure is hard buying guy a present......hahaha.......
